Remote Desktop Setup Checklist for Domain Environments

A basic checklist for setting up RDP users for users in a typicall very small office environment using Windows XP built in Remote Desktop Connections for users:

Dyndns.org
Smoothwall Setup - or whatever firewall is at the HO.
Default Port - 3389 (TCP)  to be forwarded to the HO computer from the Remote IP
Change Gateway on Local PC to Smoothwall
Add user to Remote Desktop Users group of the Local PC.
Check user domain account - especially "Terminal Services Profile" - "Allow logon to terminal Server".

Reserve IP Address in DHCP server

Local printers can be a problem, see this page to help fix printing issues.  E.g. installing print drivers manually and remapping to generic drivers: http://ts.veranoest.net/ts_printing.htm
