OSX WiFi details - hold down alt key and click on the WiFi icon. Details will appear, protocol, speed, etc.

Spotlight Search - command + space 

- try "Network Utility"

Some good ideas on integrating Apple computers into a Windows network. Mentions variants of Samba. Also, pGina which lets Windows authenticate against 3rd party things (like LDAP).

pGina might be useful for making Windows Home Editions more network friendly.

 

Combine files (e.g. 7zip split zip): cat file.zip.* > single.zip

Unzip giant zips that crash with "unzip": ditto -x -k file.zip dst-directory

shutdown or reboot - hold down power button for a few seconds, dialog comes up.

Safari - command+L goes to address bar.
