Times change... now bootable USB sounds like a good idea... to help sell Win7 online, Microsoft created "Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool" which actually can write any bootable ISO to a Flash drive and make it bootable too. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
  3. Great tool to create a bootable CD Windows environment for system recovery. Reads/Writes NTFS, Network, good stuff.

    • http://sourceforge.net/projects/regeditpe/ - a registry editor to edit the settings on the hard drive (normal) install.
  4. http://www.salvagentfs.com/1.0.html - a tool for salvaging data off of a NTFS partition - untested.
  5. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ - a boot CD with a lot of tools for recovery, boot sector hacks to work around hard drive size limits in bios', etc.
  6. http://www.ubcd4win.com/burn.htm - windows based spin-off, uses PE. includes some AV tools.
  7. Gone -- http://www.windowsubcd.com/ - a customized bart's boot cd (see point 1) with AV, spyware remover, and some other stuff. Very cool - highly recommended.
