CrashPlan Notes

Lately I've been using CrashPlan. First on a LAN, and recently testing over the Internet.

For Internet use, both sides must have firewalls configured - or uPNP working.

Port 4242 on BOTH sides - I think the CrashPlan servers test both sides to know if the port is open, then defaults to NAT traversal which may or may not work.

Couldn't connect to CrashPlan service. Service would start and stop. 32 bit XP box. "So the final solution was to open up the file C:\Program Files\CrashPlan\CrashPlanService.ini and to update -Xmx1024m to -Xmx512m" - from http://www.levijackson.net/crashplan-pro-wont-start/
