The above didn't work on my computer. Using Win + P and then single down arrow changes projector settings to duplicate from PC only and seems to work. Then up arrow to go back to PC screen only

Some hints for the non-geek: A higher resolution (bigger numbers) shows more stuff on the screen at once; however things like text and images will "look" smaller. Typically 800x600 is about right for 15 inch CRTs. 1024x768 for 17 inch monitors and 15 inch LCD's.
