Change Screen Resolution in Windows / Rotate Screen in Windows 10

Rotate Screen in Windows 10 (e.g. to workaround a TV that freaks out onto a solid green screen sometimes).

Ctrl+Alt+R rotates the screen

Ctrl+Alt+ arrow keys for specific orientations

The above didn't work on my computer. Using Win + P and then single down arrow changes projector settings to duplicate from PC only and seems to work. Then up arrow to go back to PC screen only

To change your screen resolution in Windows, follow these steps:

Minimize all open programs so that you can see your desktop wallpaper
Right-Click on any "empty" space on the desktop
In the pop-up menu, select "Properties"
A Window titled "Display Properties" will open.
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of that Window.
You will find a "Screen resolution" slide bar at the bottom left of the Display Properties window.
Slide the bar (click and hold, or just click along the slider) to set the resolution.
Use the Apply or OK buttons to test and save your changes.

Note: These instructions are specific to WinXP, however, they are generally the same steps that are required to set your screen resolution in Windows 95, 98, and 2000.

Some hints for the non-geek: A higher resolution (bigger numbers) shows more stuff on the screen at once; however things like text and images will "look" smaller. Typically 800x600 is about right for 15 inch CRTs. 1024x768 for 17 inch monitors and 15 inch LCD's.
