Garden hoses are compression fit. The little rubber gasket inside the hose is responsible for water tightness, not the threads.

Seems that often in plumbing you are removing the nut not the bolt, when turning the nut, it is NOT righty-tighty!
Toilet tank to bowl gasket, Youtube videos make it look easy, in real life, the bolts are corroded, you need to cut the bolts off. Hacksaw will fit between tank and bowl.
